Florida Police Shoot Unarmed Black Man Helping Mental Health Patient

An unarmed caretaker of an autistic man was shot and wounded by police in Florida while assisting his patient who had wondered off into the street. Therapist Charles Kinsey is shown in a video with his arms raised, lying on the ground next to his autistic patient, pleading with the police not to shoot at them. As he explains the situation to the police he is shot by an assault rifle and wounded in the leg. Charles Kinsey was retrieving a  23-year-old autistic man who had wondered off from a mental health center to play with a toy truck on the street. The Miami Herald reports: A few minutes later the autistic man was still sitting cross-legged blocking the roadway while playing with the small, rectangular white toy.
