Daily Kos Elections Nevada Democratic caucus liveblog #5
Nevada Democrats are holding their presidential caucuses today (the GOP’s caucus is on Tuesday), and we’re liveblogging the results. The caucus begins at 2 PM ET.
Results: AP (statewide) | AP (by county) | NYT | Politico
If you’re just joining us, Hillary Clinton has a 52.0 to 47.9 lead over Bernie Sanders in the Nevada caucuses, with 61% of precincts reporting. Note that this margin reflects the county convention delegates awarded to each candidate, not actual vote tallies.
NBC just projected that Hillary Clinton will win (Fox called it for her a little while earlier).
And now the AP has called it for Clinton, too:
Congrats to Hillary Clinton, and now it’s on to South Carolina’s primary a week from today. But tune in later tonight for the South Carolina Republican primary. Polls close at 7 PM ET.
And as of right now, with 65% reporting, Clinton 52.2 to 47.8.
As we head towards a full count, the margin continues to creep outward. The margin is now 4.7% (52.3 percent to 47.6 percent), with nearly three-quarters of the caucuses now reporting their results. It is largely irrelevant, except for the expectations game, but if it holds, Clinton could finish with a 53-47 win.
It looks like Washoe County will keep this a 52-48 contest, at least for now. Sanders’ lead in the northern county anchored by Reno has crept out to 54-46. But...90 percent of the caucuses have reported there, so there’s still a lot more Clark left to count.
