Rio de Janeiro (dpa) - Germany‘s Olympic coach Horst Hrubesch was proud of his players even in defeat to Brazil in Saturday‘s gold medal match and says he loved the experience of this year‘s Games."Do you see me crying?" he asked reporters post-match. "I‘m smiling all the time because I‘m proud of what we achieved. We played a fantastic tournament and that‘s what the players also recognize."Germany came within a penalty shoot-out of shocking hosts Brazil but despite settling for silver, Hrubesch was enthusiastic about his three weeks with the team."We had an amazing time, especially in the last days when we moved into the [Olympic] village," he said. "We thought about going into a hotel for the preparation but the experience was great.""What I take with me [going home] is a dream come true, we had an amazing experience working with the team. That‘s what I‘m proud of, that‘s what I‘ll take with me."The former German national team striker coached Germany youth teams of varying age groups for several years, but having turned 65, he is now preparing to move on and start a new chapter in his life - even if he does not rule out the possibility of staying in football in some capacity."I will go on vacation in a few days. I have always enjoyed football. I‘m now 65, I started in football as an 18-year-old and, as a player or a coach, whether I won or not, I always had fun.""I think it‘s the right time to hand over ... what will happen in the future, whether I stay in the DFB [German Football Association] or not we‘ll see."
