Fighter pay
I cringe when I hear about UFC fighters barely making enough money to pay for their camps/coaches etc...ie: Iaquinta, Calderwood etc....I actually feel embarrassed for the organization. Yes the top 1% make enough, but the magority dont. How do the executives sleep at nite? How do the fighters feel when the NFL teams come to train with them? This years minumum wage for an NFL player is $450,000 for a first year player. This player might never see a minute of game time, but still practices and lives the lifestyle and gets paid accordingly. The UFC has some fighters making $8,000 + $8,000 if they win. Maybe they can get 2 or 3 fights a year. So even if you won, thats $16,000 a fight, or around $48K a year!! GROSS PAY!!! Thats before taxes, bills, paying your coaches etc....compared to some %th string football player sitting on the bench, who becomes a millionaire in a couple years. After the $4 + Billion sale of the UFC, there are no excuses to justify the weak pay fighters receive. Cant wait till they unionize and start getting treated like the professional athletes they are!!!
