London (dpa) - British police arrested a 19-year-old man on terrorism-related charges on Friday after a suspicious package was found on a London underground train. The unidentified man was tasered and arrested in north London‘s Holloway area by counter-terrorism officers "on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorism acts," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. The police were "keeping an open mind regarding any possible motive" and were not looking for any other suspects, after the "suspicious item" was made safe by a controlled explosion on Thursday, the statement said.Mayor of London Sadiq Khan urged Londoners to "remain calm and vigilant" and said extra police would be deployed at transport hubs in the city."Keeping Londoners safe is my highest priority," Khan said. "I am urging all Londoners to check with TfL [Transport for London] before they travel, and to remain calm and vigilant at all times.""Over the next few days you will see more officers in and around transport hubs to provide reassurance about public safety," Khan said. The police said the suspicious package was found on a train travelling through south-east London on the Jubilee Line on Thursday afternoon. The train was held at North Greenwich underground station, which was evacuated while specialist officers carried out a controlled explosion."The item is currently being forensically examined and we await the results of that examination," the police said.
