Armenian president praises EU's efforts to shape atmosphere of confidence for resolution of Karabakh conflict
YEREVAN, October 21. /ARKA/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received today the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Herbert Salber, the presidential press office reported.
Noting that all the previous meeting with EU Special Representative took place in an open and sincere atmosphere, Sargsyan expressed hope that this meeting will also be held in such atmosphere. The president highly appreciated the EU's commitment to the formation of an atmosphere of confidence for the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Sargsyan and Salber also exchanged views on recent developments in the Karabakh negotiation process after Vienna and St. Petersburg, as well as on the current situation.
The president was said to have spoken about Armenia's efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk group and confirmed that the Armenian side is ready to continue constructive steps for the benefit of peace and security in the region.
EU Special Representative noted that during the visit to Armenia he will be meeting with representatives of civil society, including the inhabitants of border settlements. The interlocutors exchanged also views on the regional developments as well. -0-
