Chibok girls: We don’t need you – Buhari’s daughter attacks Ezekwesili, BBOG

– She however said the group is not needed by another group, AFRISEI which she heads

– The daughter of the president said her group can provide for Chibok girls as well as other people in need

Hadiza Buhari-Bello has sent a message to Oby Ezekwesili and the Bring Back Our Girls’ group is not needed by the Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative (AFRISEI).

This was contained in a statement signed by Hadiza who is the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari and Don Uche who are the president and secretary of AFRISEI respectively.

This statement came following allegation by the BBOG that AFRISEI had used its name in a fundraising event which took place at the Peace Corps of Nigeria premises in Abuja on October 17 with the #BringBackOurGirls inscription on the backdrop.

The BBOG had distanced itself from the event and demanded an apology from the Hadiza-led group

NAN reports that AFRISEI said it did not need the BBOG before it can be of good service to the Chibok girls.

They said they had no reason “to steal anything from BBOG or use its name to achieve any advantage.

“The Africa Support and Empowerment Initiative has its own defined objectives and that it didn’t need to steal anybody’s ideas to operate in line with its own objectives’’.

The president’s daughter applauded Ezekwesili and her group for the work they had been doing in bringing back the abducted Chibok girls but said their own work was broader.

“Given the size of the problem at hand, the more organisations we have assisting Chibok and other devastated communities, the better for the country.”

They said they were committed to “empowering the youth and the less privileged in the area of job creation and skill acquisition.

“It is also committed to supporting the education of the less privileged students, giving material support to the downtrodden; the internally displaced persons.

“AFRISEI is committed to educating the masses to discourage unhealthy practices such as child trafficking, child abuse, child labour and gender discrimination.”

They insisted that “there was no law that prevented their organisation from assisting the Chibok schoolgirls.”

They said as a charity organisation, they offered help to people in distress, including the Chibok girls and the Boko Haram victims.

They noted that since AFRISEI was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, they would never engage in illegal activities by stealing someone else’s franchise.
