Watford boss Sanchez Flores unimpressed by Holebas

Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has been left unimpressed by Jose Holebas.

The Mirror says Sanchez Flores could ditch £1.8 million Greek international Holebas in January – after just three appearances.

Holebas, who kept 107-cap England defender Ashley Cole out of the Roma side in Serie A last season, started the Premier League campaign as the promoted Hornets' first-choice left-back.

But he has fallen out of favour so spectacularly at Vicarage Road that he is currently surplus to requirements, with Scotland winger Ikechi Anya and on-loan Chelsea youngster Nathan Ake ahead of him in the pecking order.

The manager said: “Holebas must wait, fight and try to force his way back into the team. He is an experienced player and he understands that, maybe, when he arrived at Watford it would be easy to play here.

“But the level of this team is very high, and there is a lot of competition for every position, so Holebas is now fighting with Anya and Ake for a place."
