Trump to fire Homeland Security boss, replace chief of staff-source

By Steve Holland WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to remove Department of Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen and is considering replacing chief of staff John Kelly in another shakeup of his administration, a source close to the White House said. Trump has been mulling removing Nielsen, a Kelly protege who became the secretary at Homeland Security when he left the job to become Trump's chief of staff, for a number of weeks, the source said.

Sri Lanka’s top court stays president’s order to sack parliament

By Ranga Sirilal COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended a presidential decree to dissolve parliament and hold fresh elections, heightening the country's political uncertainty. Later on Tuesday, Karu Jayasuriya, the speaker of Parliament said the legislature would reconvene at 10 a.m. (0430 GMT) on Wednesday, as originally scheduled.

Warnings of a ‘domino effect’ of protectionism as Asian leaders meet

Kirstjen Nielsen, the top immigration official in the Trump administration, is likely being booted out. “It’s no longer ‘if’, it’s ‘when’”, is the buzz at the White House which offered no comment on “personnel issues”. Trump has long understood to have had problems with Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen - a protege of Trump’s chief of staff John Kelly who has been the DHS Secretary’s champion from well before her appointment.
