Russian central bank says EU plans to use its assets are illegal

Russia’s central bank said on Friday that the European Union’s plans to use its assets were illegal and that it reserved the right to take any measures necessary to protect its interests. It added in a separate statement that it is suing the Brussels-based financial institution Euroclear, where much of the frozen assets are held, in a Moscow court, accusing it of actions that have harmed the bank’s ability to access and manage its funds and securities. Messi to unveil 21-metre statue of himself on India 'GOAT' tour

The iron sculpture in Kolkata, which shows Messi holding aloft the World Cup, is part of a so-called GOAT Tour that will take in four Indian cities and a possible meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 38-year-old Argentina and Inter Miami superstar will unveil the monument virtually rather than in person for security reasons. A "Hola Messi" fan zone has also been set up in Kolkata where on display is a life-sized replica of Messi sat on a throne. The hall also recreates his Miami home, complete with mannequins of his family members.

Thailand PM dissolves Parliament for new elections early next year

Thailand’s Parliament was dissolved Friday for new elections early next year as the country engaged in deadly fighting with Cambodia. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul dissolved the House of Representatives after getting approval from King Maha Vajiralongkorn, whose endorsement became effective Friday with its publication in the Royal Gazette.

British porn star fined, faces imminent Bali deportation

Local police last week raided a studio in Badung, a popular tourist district near the resort island's capital, Denpasar, detaining Blue, 26, whose real name is Tia Billinger. Spain opens doors to descendants of Franco-era exiles
