In Senegal, ride-hailing apps have exploded in popularity in recent years. Companies like Yango, Heetch and Yassir have thrived, but are not officially regulated by the state. Drivers of the traditional yellow cabs that have long circulated in the capital, Dakar, say they can no longer compete on a level playing field.
