Diamond core intersections confirm geological model at Kodal’s Mali project

Mineral exploration and development company Kodal Minerals has received assay results for the first two diamond drill holes completed during the wet season at the Sogola-Baoule and Boumou prospects on the company’s 450 km2 Bougouni lithium project, in southern Mali. The diamond core intersections confirm the geological model and continue to extend mineralisation.

Wescoal reports strong interim results

JSE-listed coal miner, trader and supplier, Wescoal has achieved solid results for the six months ended September 30, with headline earnings a share up 16% year-on-year, at 23.5c. Revenue increased by 28% year-on-year to R2.1-billion, while cash generation increased by 41% to R291-million, which helped to reduce the group’s gearing to a conservative ratio of 18%, compared with 32% in the first half of the prior financial year.

Talon unveils results of initial PEA for Tamarack

TSX-listed Talon Metals has announced the results of the initial preliminary economic assessment (PEA) that it used as a basis for negotiating the right to acquire up a 60% interest in the Minnesota-based Tamarack project from Rio Tinto. The initial PEA focuses on the Tamarack North project and illustrates a high after-tax internal rate of return (IRR), low C1 cash costs, low capital intensity and a quick payback.

Mountain Province foregoes dividend in weaker market

The shareholders of Canadian diamond miner Mountain Province have missed out on a third-quarter dividend, owing to difficult trading conditions in the lower-end segment of the diamond market. Mountain Province recently paid shareholders a maiden dividend of 4c a share, but said late on Monday that it had chosen to reduce its debt, rather than declaring another dividend this year, as it continued to strike a balance between the two.

New BC coking coal mine on the cards

Publically traded Colonial Coal has announced the outcomes of a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for a new coking coal mine, near Tumbler Ridge, north-eastern British Columbia. Although preliminary in nature, the PEA shows that the Gordon Creek project has positive economics and that it is worthy of continuing exploration and development, the TSX-V-listed company reported on Monday.
