Gold miners insist they won't splurge despite price surge

The world's top gold miners sought to reassure investors on Monday that they're not going on a spending spree despite surging gold prices boosting their shares and free cash flow. Arc Minerals intersects oxide and sulphide mineralisation at Fwiji target in Zambia

Copper and cobalt miner Arc Minerals reports that a maiden diamond drilling programme at the Fwiji target at the Zamsort and Zaco licence areas in north western Zambia, has intersected oxide and sulphide mineralisation. Nine holes have been drilled to date at Fwiji over an area of more than 1 km2, with these initial holes confirming the interpreted anticlinal feature and intersecting both oxide and sulphide mineralisation, according to the visuals and on-site portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analyses.

Brazilian steelmaker CSN board okays IPO of mining unit

Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional said its board has approved an initial public offering by its mining unit CSN Mineracao SA, according to a securities filing on Monday. CSN said the offering aims at funding CSN Mineracao's business plan, as well as creating value for the steelmaker's shareholders. The company did not disclose the IPO amount or when it should occur.
