On April 20, Sheremetyevo Airport security personnel suspected something was wrong with three oversized pieces of luggage for an Air China flight to Nanchang, China. Climate change is a boon for Santa Claus with April snowfall

The city of Kirov (590 miles east of Moscow) has been hit by snowfalls and blizzards instead of spring drops. In some places there are 17 inches of snow on the ground. So, it's no surprise that in the middle of this foul weather Old Man Frost (the Russian Santa Claus) has appeared on the streets. The fairytale character walked around the city, greeted the locals and handed out gifts, wrote the local news website, Progorod.

Forbes ranks Russia's wealthiest titans of business

The Russian version of Forbes Magazine published the latest annual top 200 rating of the country's wealthiest people in business. The magazine noted that the cutoff threshold has never been so high, with one needing a fortune of at least $500 million to make the ranking. In comparison, last year the figure was $350 million. The combined fortune of all people in the 2016 rating stands at $460 billion.

Russian IT exports grow rapidly as tech startups go global

While a student at Moscow State University, Andrei Sviridenko created artificial intelligence software, and when he went to Heidelberg, Germany as an exchange student he started looking for buyers. Riding his bike to visit small local computer companies he eventually found GTS GmbH, which liked his software solution and bought a license for it. That’s how Sviridenko launched Spirit DSP.
