Jordan’s King Abdullah II warns Israel of a “massive conflict” if it proceeds with plans to annex large parts of the occupied #WestBank, as European Union foreign ministers meet to discuss what action the bloc might take in response to such a move, AP, via Al Arabiya reports .
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Emboldened by President Donald J. Trump’s Vision for Peace, Prosperity, and a Brighter Future for Israel and the Palestinian People said that the area under the annexation plan would include all Israeli settlements and the Jordan Valley – territory Israel has kept under military occupation since its capture in the 1967 war but which Palestinians want in a future state, AlArabiya reported.
Middle Eastern leaders as well as Russia have expressed concern over Israel‘s plan to annex Parts of the West Bank.
Moscow is concerned that if Israel goes ahead with proposed plans to annex parts of the West Bank, it would undermine the prospects of creating an “independent, viable and territorially contiguous Palestinian state,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said 17 April.
For decades the King of Jordan has held that a two state solution for Israel and Palestine is the only road to peace. In his latest interview with der Spiegel magazine, He warned of chaos and extremism if Israel continues with its plans.
