Russian Mi-8 Military Helicopter Crashes Near Moscow, Crew Killed

A Mi-8 military helicopter on a training flight crashed 19 May near Moscow, killing the crew of three.

The helicopter of the Russian aerospace crash landed 20 kilometers of the settlement of Klin, Moscow region, in a desolate location at about 20:00 Moscow time on May 19. The crew died of injuries,” the ministry said, with Tass reporting.

“According to preliminary data, the crash might have been caused by a technical failure,” the Ministry told Tass.

The source in the emergencies services told TASS that the rotorcraft was destroyed in the accident. 

“The helicopter has been practically destroyed. The crew of three has died,” the source said. No injuries or damage on the ground were reported

One year ago, A Russian-origin Mi-8 military helicopter belonging to Kazakhstan crashed in the south-western part of the country May 2019, Defense network reported

“13 servicemen were killed… while performing their military duty,” defence ministry said.
