6 January Protest damaged Multnomah County Central Courthouse, Oregon as rioters tried to break in
The recently opened Multnomah County Central Courthouse was damaged in Wednesday night’s protest. A large window pane was shattered by an object during an attempt to pry open the security fencing around the courthouse.
Elected Officials have allowed mayhem, property destruction and violence in Portland and Seattle for months.
We fully support individuals’ First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and gather peacefully. If you plan to attend, be aware of those around you and their intentions, follow the direction of public safety officials and report any criminal activity.
We’re aware of a direct action event outside the Justice Center tonight calling for demonstrators to “spread fire.” We will not tolerate criminal activity that jeopardizes or threatens the safety of deputies, officers, adults in custody, employees and community members.
