Spc. Joshua S. Robinson, First Sergeant Casey J. Hart die while serving with Inherent Resolve in Kuwait and Syria

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Spc. Joshua S. Robinson, 22, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died Jun. 10, 2021, at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, as a result of a non-combat related incident. The incident is under investigation.

Robinson was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment, Louisiana Army National Guard, Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Sgt Robinson was the second soldier of Bravo Company to die this week. Earlier, !st Sgt Casey Hart was killed in Syria

Corporal Hart is a 14-year veteran of the police department and was assigned as a Uniformed Patrol Officer at 3rd District. As a dedicated member of the United States Army National Guard, he not only served our community, but he served our country honorably for many years. STATEMENT FROM MAYOR BROOME

Baton Rouge, La. — June 9, 2021 — We are saddened to learn of the passing of one of our finest. Yesterday, Corporal Casey Hart, who served the citizens of our community as a Baton Rouge Police Officer for over 14 years, succumbed to an illness while on deployment with the National Guard. 

Corporal Hart was assigned as a Uniformed Patrol Officer at BRPD’s 3rd District. As a member of the National Guard for 24 years, he rose to the rank of First Sergeant.

I want to join the men and women of the Baton Rouge Police Department in recognizing Corporal Hart’s tireless dedication to the Department, our city and our country. His life represents a life lived in service to others, and I extend my condolences to Corporal Hart’s wife, Keri, his daughter, Taylen, and all his friends and family.

Gov. John Bel Edwards issued the following statement on the death of assigned to Bravo Company 2^nd Battalion, 156^th Infantry Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade, Army National Guard, New Iberia, Louisiana. A veteran of the Baton Rouge Police Department, he passed away while mobilized with the National Guard in Syria.  

“First Sergeant Casey J. Hart valiantly and proudly served the citizens of our state and nation, and we are deeply saddened to hear of his passing,” said Gov. Edwards. “A senior member of the 2^ndBattalion, he grew as a strong leader over the past two decades. A true American hero, he selflessly served his community here and during his assignments abroad.
