Ottawa feels the heat of disgruntled Canadians
demonstrations in Ottawa I’ve been going on since the last week of January. Some are demonstrating in support of the truckers and calls for freedom were others are demonstrating for other causes. Oh the trucker convoy for freedom has been peaceful I Ottawa please report ask of violence in the city.

Individuals from across the continent, have converged on our city, putting the safety of our residents, businesses and communities at risk. This is a unique and unprecedented situation.
The ongoing demonstrations in Ottawa’s downtown core are unlawful, volatile and dangerous. Residents have been the victims of intense noise, harassment, vitriol and hatred that has no place in our city, our country, or anywhere.
To those responsible, know that there are consequences for your actions. Those who contributed to traffic chaos are being pursued and charged. Those who have committed hate crimes and criminal offences are facing prosecution, and potential jail time.
Today, I can report that:
– Three men have been charged with criminal offences.
– There are 18 active investigations including those into the desecration of the War Monument and incidents at the Shepherds of Good Hope.
– We have received dozens of hotline complaints, including three that are being investigated by our Hate Crimes Unit.
The Ottawa Police Service, and our policing partners, are escalating our actions, including enforcement. We are working to end this demonstration as safely and quickly as possible. All options are on the table.
As Chief, the safety of the people of Ottawa is my number one priority. We are fortunate that there have been no riots, injuries, or deaths. As we anticipate and plan for additional demonstrators this weekend, we will continue to hold criminals to account, and manage the significant public safety risks.
