Ange Postecoglou in spectacular touchline bust-up with fan before slamming ‘fragile’ Tottenham after Man City loss

ANGE POSTECOGLOU had a bust-up with a fan and then slammed the state of the club as the Tottenham boss lost his temper.

The Aussie was left fuming as Spurs lost 2-0 to Manchester City in a defeat which ended their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

In the build-up to the crucial game, Postecoglou was unhappy over suggestions his team wouldn’t mind losing to help prevent rivals Arsenal winning the league.

He said: “I understand the rivalry, but I’ve never and will never understand if someone wants their own team to lose. That’s not what sport is about.”

But the atmosphere inside the stadium last night was unusually quiet despite it being such a crucial game in Tottenham’s season.

And some supporters were even seen jokingly celebrating City’s goals.

While on the touchline during the match, Postecoglou was involved in a row with a supporter.

A shock video has emerged of him shouting at a fan sat behind his team’s dugout.

The 58-year-old boss rages and points at a supporter, saying: “Just so I know who you are.”

It is unclear what angered Postecoglou and what else is said in the video.

And the manager had not calmed down when he spoke in a press conference after Erling Haaland’s double sank Spurs.

Seeming incensed by some people’s attitude towards the game, Postecoglou ranted: “The last 48 hours have revealed that the foundations are fairly fragile.

“That’s what I feel. The last 48 hours has revealed a fair bit to me.

“But it just means I’ve got to go back to the drawing board with some things.

“It’s outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise.”

Probed on what he meant by a reporter, Postecoglou snapped back: “It’s my observations, mate. I’m not going to tell you because it’s for me.

“I’m the one that’s got to do it so you can make your own assessment over what’s happpened.

“I understand I have probably misread the situation to what I think is important and in your endeavour to become a winning team. But it’s okay, it’s why I’m here.

“I want to be successful at this football club, it’s why I was brought in.

“So what other people, how they want to feel, and what their priorities are, are of zero interest to me. 

“I know what’s important to build a winning team, that’s what I need to concentrate on.

“It is what it is mate. I can’t dictate what people do. They [the fans] are allowed to express themselves in any way they want.

“But yeah, when we’ve got late winners in games it’s because the crowd has helped us.

“I already know what I want to do, it’s just I’ve got to make some adjustments to how I do it.”

Tottenham’s loss means they will play Europa League football next season and Aston Villa get the last Champions League spot.

Man City picking up the three points sees them go two points clear of Arsenal ahead of the final game of the season.

The champions, who are looking to make it four titles in a row, need to beat West Ham at home on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need to beat Everton and hope the Hammers to do them a favour at the Etihad.
