Cowgirls Beat Kentucky to Advance to Regional Final

Oklahoma State pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl struck out 12 and Jilyen Poullard hit two solo home runs to the lead the Cowgirls to a 6-2 win over Kentucky in the NCAA softball regional at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater on Saturday.

OSU has won 13 straight NCAA Tournament games at home and are now 14-0 in regional home games under head coach Kenny Gajewski.

After giving up two runs in the top of the first, Kilfoyl shut out the Wildcats after that.

OSU's offense responded in the bottom of the first with four runs.

Poullard hit her first home run to get the Cowgirls started in the first.

Tallen Edwards scored on a wild pitch and Claire Timm singled in Caroline Wang to give OSU the lead 3-2.

The Cowgirls ended the inning when Micaela Wark fouled out to third base, but Kentucky failed to cover home and Rosie Davis tagged up and scored to make it 4-2 OSU.

In the third inning, Timm doubled in Davis to make it 5-2 Cowgirls.

Poullard finished the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning.

OSU will play in the final at 2:00 Sunday and will have to be beaten twice to keep from advancing to the super regional.
