Tyson Fury says he would’ve done more down the stretch of the fight if he believed he was down on points.

Tyson Fury came up short on two of the judges official scorecards in his undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.

Following his split decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk over the weekend, Tyson Fury appeared at the post-fight press conference to give his reaction to what transpired and why he’s not going to gripe too hard despite believing he won the bout.

Fury on his reaction to the loss to Usyk

“I always say it’s about getting paid and getting laid, and we did that tonight,” Fury said. “I thank Oleksandr for the good fight. It was a close fight, you know. I believe, I thought I did enough but I’m not a judge, I can’t judge a fight while I’m boxing it.

“If they would’ve said to me the last round or whatever, ‘You’re down. Go out and try and finish him,’ I would’ve done that but everyone in the corner believed we were up. All I had to do was keep boxing and doing what I was doing. But it was what it was, we’re not going to cry about spilled milk.

“We’ve had plenty of victories and I’ve gave God the glory. I’ve had this one loss in a close fight with a good man like Usyk and it was what it was. I tried me best in there — I was having a lot of fun, actually.”

On when he felt the tide of the fight beginning to turn

“I thought the first six rounds he maybe nicked one of the rounds. And then going forward I believe I won a few of the last rounds as well. So say I won five of the first six and then the next six I won a few as well, so listen — it was close. I don’t know. I tried me best and it was what it was...can’t complain about it.”
