WTO members consider four regional trade agreements

At the meeting of the Committee on Regional Trade Agreements (CRTA) on 2 July, WTO members reviewed four RTAs involving Cambodia, Iceland, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Ambassador Salomon Eheth of Cameroon, the new CRTA chair, also provided an update on RTAs still to be considered by the Committee.

Bouthet, Kraus Voted SAAC Athletes of the Year

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The executive board of the Allegheny College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has voted Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) of the men's lacrosse team and Olivia Kraus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) of the women's swimming and diving team winners of the College's 2023-24 SAAC Athlete of the Year awards.

Goods trade posts 1% growth in the first quarter of 2024 after 2023 plateau

The volume of world merchandise trade turned up in the first quarter of 2024 after remaining flat throughout 2023, according to the latest trade statistics released by the WTO. Merchandise trade as measured by the average of exports and imports was up 1.0% in the first quarter compared to the previous quarter. Trade in the first quarter was also up 1.4% compared to the same period in 2023.
