Grains mostly higher, livestock higher

CHICAGO (AP) _ Grain futures were mostly higher in early trading Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Dec. corn fell by 0.5 cent at $4.24 a bushel. Dec. wheat rose by 6.75 cents at $5.42 a bushel. Dec. oats was up 3.25 cents at $3.48 a bushel. Jan. soybeans gained 1.25 cents at $9.87 a bushel.

Trump vows new Canada, Mexico, China tariffs that threaten global trade

President-elect Donald Trump on Monday pledged big tariffs on the United States' three largest trading partners - Canada, Mexico and China - detailing how he will implement campaign promises that could trigger trade wars. Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, 2025, said he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico until they clamped down on drugs, particularly fentanyl, and migrants crossing the border, in a move that would appear to violate a free-trade deal.
