France’s anti-terrorism court has convicted eight people of involvement in the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty in 2020. Paty was killed near Paris days after showing his class cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad during a debate on free expression. The assailant, an 18-year-old Russian of Chechen origin, was shot to death by police. Those convicted on Friday were accused, in some cases, of providing assistance to the perpetrator and, in others, of organizing a hate campaign online before the murder took place. Читать дальше...

Queensbury man sentenced in SEFCU fraud conspiracy

The "ringleader" in a SEFCU bank fraud conspiracy has been sentenced. The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) said Evan Cutler, 25, of Queensbury, was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.

Stock market today: Wall Street leaps and halves its losses from what had been a dismal week

U.S. stocks are rallying to halve their losses in what had been one of their worst weeks of the year. The S&P 500 jumped 1.6% Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 691 points, and the Nasdaq composite gained 1.7%. The rally was widespread after a report said a measure of inflation the Federal Reserve likes to use was slightly lower last month than expected.
