Coalition hopes Duterte administration will stand by pro-teacher policies

The 30,000-member Teachers Dignity Coalition (TDC) yesterday expressed hope that incoming president Rodrigo Duterte will stand by his “pro-teacher pronouncements during the campaign” and that these will be manifested “in the policies of the new leadership” of the Department of Education (DepEd). The teachers recalled that the team of Duterte and his running mate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano had promised public school teachers that they will seek an additional P10,000 in compensation for them on top of the Salary Standardization Law (SLL) should they get elected.
