Santiago now in the hospital

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Makati Medical Center early this week. The office of the senator made the announcement through an emailed advisory sent to members of the media yesterday. The senator is undergoing treatment for lung cancer.  In the statement, Santiago’s camp said the senator, who is sick and suffered complication, was rushed by ambulance to the MMC Monday, May 30. Her husband Narciso “Jun” Santiago was quoted as saying that visitors are not allowed and that gifts, such as flowers and other blooms, will not be accepted.
