Tokayev met with one of Japan's influential female politicians

Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received the Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike.
The President of Kazakhstan highlighted the symbolic nature of Governor Yuriko Koike’s visit, which takes place on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the expanded strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Japan.
He also noted that under Yuriko Koike’s leadership, Tokyo has become recognized as one of the world’s safest, cleanest, and most efficiently managed metropolises.

"We regard you as an outstanding world-class politician. Your visionary leadership and many years of service to your country deserve profound respect. In Kazakhstan, you are known as a time-tested friend, partner, and stateswoman. We attach special importance to your efforts to promote the history and culture of Kazakhstan, which contribute to the rapprochement of our peoples," the Head of State emphasized.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly recalled his official visit to Japan last year, which resulted in bilateral relations being elevated to a qualitatively new level.

"I have studied Tokyo’s 'smart city' program. This was of great interest to us, as we are also promoting the Smart City concept in Kazakhstan. I am convinced that your visit to Astana will be highly productive, as we aim to further develop cooperation and exchange experience in megacity management," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Governor of Tokyo thanked the President for the warm reception.

"I highly value your leadership, as well as the institutional reforms you are implementing aimed at economic growth, the development of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the country's investment attractiveness. As the region's largest economy with significant resources, Kazakhstan is strengthening its role as a key Central Asian hub connecting Europe and Asia," noted Yuriko Koike.

The parties also discussed opportunities for establishing partnerships in key areas such as digital technologies, international finance, and education.
