Minimum pension will increase in Kazakhstan in 2027 - draft budget

Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan is set to increase the minimum pension starting in 2027. Updated figures are included in the draft national budget for 2027–2029, which was posted on the "Open NPAs" portal by the Ministry of Finance.

According to the draft national budget, the minimum pension in Kazakhstan is planned to increase to 74,919 tenge in 2027. For comparison, the 2026 figure stands at 69,049 tenge.

Consequently, the minimum pension will rise by 5,870 tenge, or approximately 8.5 percent.

What is the minimum pension?

The minimum pension is the state-mandated minimum pension payment amount. Simply put, it is the floor for pensions; a payout cannot fall below this level.

However, it is important not to confuse the minimum pension with a minimum retirement payout. An individual's specific pension amount depends on their length of service, income, and type of pension benefits.

This is currently only a proposal

It is important to note that this refers only to the draft budget. The document has been published for public discussion. This means the amounts specified therein are not yet final..

Following the public consultation period, the draft budget will be submitted to the Kurultai for consideration. Members of Parliament may propose amendments and adjust specific parameters of the document. The budget will take effect once signed by the President.

Additionally, the Monthly Calculation Index (MCI) in Kazakhstan is expected to change starting in 2027.
