Giants hire Bell as VPof player development
The Giants added one of their former players to the front office Friday, hiring David Bell as the vice president of player development.
More changes are expected after the Giants lost 98 games, including in the coaching staff. Bell replaces Shane Turner, who’s now a special assistant in player operations.
General manager Bobby Evans said he spoke with Turner, a longtime club employee, at the end of the minor-league season to tell him of the change and offered the new role.
Bell, 45, will oversee the minor-league system.
“We want to take a strong look at how we can get better in a lot of different areas in player development,” Evans said.
