Tony Bennett Receives Gershwin Prize From National Library

Tony Bennett, the beloved and durable interpreter of American standards whose chart-topping career spans seven decades, has been honored with this year's Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.   The Library of Congress announced the award Tuesday. The lifetime achievement award named for the duo of George and Ira Gershwin was created by Congress to honor singers and songwriters who entertain, inform and inspire. US Women's Soccer Coach DiCicco Dead at 68

Tony DiCicco, one of the most popular figures and leaders in women's soccer history in the United States, died late Monday at age 68. U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati said DiCicco was "one of the most influential coaches in U.S. Soccer history." His teams posted a 103-8-8 record from 1994 to 1999, making him the winningest coach in U.S. Soccer history and the only coach to win more than 100 games. Senate Setback for Brazil's Temer Rattles Reform Agenda, Markets

A Brazilian Senate committee on Tuesday rejected President Michel Temer's labor reform bill, in an unexpected blow to his administration that does not kill the pro-market proposal but shows weakening support for his agenda. Even after being rejected in the social affairs committee by 10 to 9 votes, the proposal moves to the constitutional and justice committee before its heads to the floor for a full vote, said Ricardo Ferraco, the senator drafting the bill.
