NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are meeting on the sidelines of an annual U.N. gathering. At the start of their meeting Thursday in New York, Trump heaped praise on Erdogan, who has been criticized for a crackdown in Turkey following an attempted coup last year. Iraqi forces begin operation to retake town from Islamic State group

IRBIL, Iraq — In a push at dawn, Iraqi forces opened an operation Thursday to retake the town of Hawija — one of the last extremist strongholds in Iraq — from the Islamic State group, according to a statement from the Iraqi prime minister’s office. Survey: 1 in 10 female Utah State students face sex assault

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A recent survey says a most Utah State University students feel safe on campus, but one in 10 women say they have experienced unwanted sexual contact. University administrators released a report Wednesday highlighting the results of an April campus climate survey. Forty-five percent of the student body responded. Among the students who experienced assault, 90 percent say their attacker was an acquaintance — typically a fellow student — but only 5 percent filed a formal report with the school.
