Warriors win meeting of MVP point guards

Interim head coach Luke Walton couldn’t trim Monday’s win over Cavaliers to fewer than 31 highlights, and he might as well just show all 48 minutes of Wednesday’s 125-94 victory over the Bulls.

Stephen Curry won the league’s first-ever meeting of MVP point guards, and the Warriors limited the Bulls to 1-for-20 three-point shooting in front of a sellout crowd at the United Center and a national TV audience.

The Warriors (39-4), who led for the final 41½ minutes and by double digits for the closing 38½, went 7-2 during a stretch in which they played seven road games.

Curry, the 2015 MVP, had 25 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, and the Warriors outscored the Bulls by 36 points in his 34 minutes.

Derrick Rose, the 2011 MVP, had 29 points on 12-for-22 shooting, two assists and a rebound, but Chicago was outscored by 10 points during his 30 minutes.

Harrison Barnes had 19 points on 13 shots, Klay Thompson added 20 points, and Andrew Bogut had six points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots despite dealing with back spasms for most of his 20 minutes.

Draymond Green piled up six points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, and he provided the only moments of worry for the Warriors during a game attended by many of the players from the Bulls’ 1995-96 squad that won an NBA-record 72 regular-season games.

With Green being checked by doctors, the Warriors missed eight of their next 11 shots and committed three turnovers during a six-minute stretch that allowed Chicago to trim its deficit to 73-61.
