City Lights creates new play from age-old story

For only the second time in its 35-year history, San Jose’s City Lights Theater Company has commissioned a world premiere.

Fittingly for a story that’s partly about humans’ uneasy relationship with science and technology, City Lights employs some nifty gadgets in this production, including projection mapping by Nick Kumamoto, which both illustrates time and place and gives “a high-tech window into the creature’s brain,” according to the company.

A portion of the ticket sales for this production benefit Los Gatos Rowing Club’s Feel the Power Program, which works with special-needs children and adults.
