Giants’ Angel Pagan extends streak, exits with ailment

Angel Pagan has an 18-game hit streak, but who would know?

“It’s like when a guy’s throwing a no-hitter — you don’t mention it,” said one Giant who didn’t want his name attached to his comment, fearing he’d jinx Pagan.

Even with Joe Panik back on track after coming off a concussion, Pagan is the undisputed No. 2 hitter, taking Panik’s old spot.

Pagan extended his streak with a first-inning bunt single but exited after two at-bats with right groin tightness, which he felt pursuing a ball in left field.

Pagan is expected to miss Sunday’s series finale, and the Giants hope he’ll return for Tuesday’s opener at Dodger Stadium.

“We think he’ll be OK,” manager Bruce Bochy said.

“No reason to change that now,” said Panik, who batted eighth Saturday and tripled and scored a run.
