Caledonia successfully raises $150m through upsized note offering

After successfully closing a $150-million seven-year convertible senior note offering, gold miner Caledonia Mining Corporation says it will start ordering long lead-time equipment for the Bilboes project, in Zimbabwe, in the third quarter of the year. The company will also start a formal project finance process to support the full development of Bilboes towards large-scale and long-life production.

Vale’s copper ambition is to produce 1Mt/y

Vale’s base metals unit wants to eventually produce one-million tons of copper by developing existing assets, exceeding an output target for 2035. Major mining firms such as Anglo American and Rio Tinto Group are racing to increase production of the metal through acquisitions. Vale Base Metals is focused on deposits it already owns in Brazil to join the ranks of the world’s largest copper suppliers.

Teck production in line with guidance

Canadian major Teck Resources has reported 2025 yearly copper production of 453 500 t, in line with previously disclosed guidance, supported by strong operational performance across its portfolio during the fourth quarter. In a production and sales update released on Tuesday, the diversified miner also reported zinc in concentrate production of 565 000 t for the year, at the upper end of its guidance range, while refined zinc production reached 229 900 t, also at the high end of expectations.

Rio Tinto leans on copper as Pilbara steadies after earlier storms

Diversified miner Rio Tinto reported robust production results for 2025, highlighted by an 8% year-on-year increase in copper-equivalent output.
