PHOENIX (AP) — State officials say an endangered squirrel species' estimated population has apparently plummeted since a major wildfire burned much of its habitat atop a southeastern Arizona mountain last summer. Police: 2 children hit by truck, injured in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee say they have arrested a driver for suspected driving under the influence after he hit two children in his pickup truck, injuring and hospitalizing them. According to news outlets, a Knoxville Police news release said the two 10-year-olds were hit by a Ford F-150 when it left the road in Knoxville on Saturday morning. Group plans push to end the death penalty in Utah next year

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A group advocating for the end of Utah's death penalty intends to make another push next year following the failure of a similar effort in 2016. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah Justice Coalition Executive Director Darcy Van Orden says they already have a sponsor in the state Senate to back a bill on abolishing the death penalty, and they're seeking a backer in the House.
