Un niño de 5 años que enfermó en un refugio para migrantes de Chicago murió en diciembre de septicemia y de una infección bacteriana que causa estreptococos en la garganta, según la autopsia oficial.

Es una muerte que un médico observó que podría haberse evitado, porque la infección es "médicamente muy, muy tratable".

New book on parole revisits case of man convicted of 1970 killing of two Chicago cops at Cabrini-Green

Chicago police patrol at the Cabrini-Green housing project in 1970 after a sniper murdered a pair of CPD officers there. That crime figures into “Correction: Parole, Prison and the Possibility of Change,” a book by Chicago writer Ben Austen, looking at the parole system through a pair of long-time prisoners, including Johnnie Veal, convicted of the Cabrini-Green killings. The project later was torn down.

String of North Side robberies prompts community warning

Police are increasing their presence in some North Side neighborhoods Monday night after a string of robberies that they believe are connected, according to Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th).
