Feds say ex-state Sen. Terry Link deserves probation after helping uncover bribery scheme

Federal prosecutors say former state Sen. Terry Link should get probation — and no prison time — for dodging $82,000 in taxes after he cooperated for years with the FBI and helped prosecutors convict others for a bribery scheme under the Capitol dome in Springfield.

Sentencing guideline estimates call for as much as a year behind bars for Link, who is set to learn his fate March 6 in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Mary Rowland. Читать дальше...

The Ford Model T automobile was made of wood. The car required 250 board feet of hard maple, the reason the company's Chicago Assembly Plant was built on the Calumet River, at Torrence Avenue and 125th Street. Henry Ford had announced he wanted all of his new plants located on navigable waterways.

INDIANAPOLIS — There has long been speculation that USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the top prospect in the draft, doesn’t want to play for the Bears. Williams and his representatives haven’t said anything publicly indicating that, though, and Bears general manager Ryan Poles doesn’t believe there’s any merit to those rumors.

A FedEx driver died in a Tri-State crash early Tuesday.

A FedEx driver died after crashing into a wall early Tuesday on Interstate 294, according to officials.

About 2:25 a.m., the driver, who was in a FedEx double tractor-trailer, left the northbound lanes and struck a wall on I-294 at milepost 52.5, Illinois State Police said.

The driver was thrown from the tractor-trailer and taken to an area hospital, state police said. Читать дальше...

Chicago man fatally shot in Niles identified

A Chicago man who died after being found with multiple gunshot wounds in suburban Niles has been identified, according to Niles Police.

Police responded to a report of an injured man near West Chase and Harlem Avenues at about 9:08 p.m. Sunday and found Billy J. Parker, a 26-year-old Chicago resident, with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Two police officers injured Belmont Cragin crash

Two police officers were injured in a crash in Belmont Cragin on Monday night, police said.

Officers were driving northbound in the 2300 block of North Laramie Avenue about 7:02 p.m. while responding to a call with their lights and sirens on when two people on a scooter drove through an intersection at the same time, police said. The officers swerved to avoid hitting them and hit a parked car, causing the squad car and the parked car to catch fire. Читать дальше...
