LME to launch monthly 'implied pricing' to attract funds

The London Metal Exchange (LME) will launch a new set of synthetic monthly prices to make it easier for investors and funds to invest in base metals as the LME battles competition from other exchanges such as those operated by CME Group Inc.. The world's oldest and largest market for industrial metals, the LME said in a statement on Tuesday that "implied" prices for the six main base metals would be provided starting July 30.

First Majestic production hits record, 2018 production guidance hiked

Total production from dual-listed First Majestic’s seven operating silver mines reached a new company record of 5.1-million ounces of silver equivalent in the second quarter, comprising 2.8-million ounces of silver, 25 449 oz of gold, 3.9-million pounds of lead and 1.4-million pounds of zinc. The addition of the San Dimas silver/gold mine, which was acquired in May, prompted the company to increase its 2018 silver production target to a new range of between 12-million ounces and 13.2-million ounces... R2.6bn boost for platinum demand

Laramide buys Rio tenements

Dual listed uranium developer Laramide Resources will spend A$450 000 to purchase the Murphy uranium tenements, in the Northern Territory, from major Rio Tinto’s exploration arm. The purchase agreement replaces an existing farm-in and joint venture agreement between the two companies.

Plateau Energy Metals Peru unit finds large lithium resources

Canadian miner Plateau Energy Metals's Peru unit Macusani Yellowcake said on Monday it has found 2.5-million tonnes of high-grade lithium resources and 124-million pounds of uranium resources in its Falchani hard rock deposit in the region Puno. Ulises Solis, general manager of the unit, told a news conference that it was unclear how much of the lithium resources would eventually end up being classified as economically viable reserves.
