Canada’s Nutrien sells equity position in Arab Potash

Canada’s Nutrien, created through the merger of Agrium and Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, on Monday announced the sale of its 28% interest in Arab Potash (APC) to China’s SDIC Mining and Investment for $502-million. The sale followed last month’s auctioning of its remaining stake in Chile lithium miner SQM for nearly $1-billion as part of pledges to regulators which approved the merger earlier this year.

RNC selects preferred bidder for WA mine

Canadian miner RNC has completed the second phase of the sales process of its Beta Hunt gold and nickel mine, in Western Australia, with the selection of a preferred bidder. RNC has granted exclusivity to the bidder, which was not named, to allow for completion of the final phase of the sale process. The company expects the transaction to close in August.

Western Areas hits full year targets

Nickel miner Western Areas has delivered a solid fourth quarter during the three months to June, with the miner hitting its production targets in the full-year. Western Areas produced 6 381 t of nickel during the June quarter, up from the 6 236 t produced in the previous quarter, with full year production reaching 24 442 t.

Poseidon gets new CEO

ASX-listed Poseidon Nickel has appointed Robert Dennis as MD and CEO, effective from August 1. Dennis is currently a non-executive director of the company, and was formerly the COO before taking up a role as COO of Independence Group in 2014.
