Investors cheer Ivanhoe’s resource update for Kipushi

Canadian major Ivanhoe Mines on Monday published a mineral resource estimate update for its Kipushi zinc/copper/silver/germanium project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), increasing the past-producing mine’s zinc-rich resources by 16% and copper-rich resources by 40%. The new estimate, which will be incorporated into the pending definitive feasibility study for the project, increased the measured and indicated zinc-rich resources from 10.2-million tonnes in 2016 to 11.8-million tonnes at 35.34%... Sulphides intersected at Orion’s Rok Optel nickel/copper prospect

Semi-massive and injected-stringer sulphide veins have been intersected at Orion Minerals’ Rok Optel nickel/copper prospect, in the Areachap Belt, in the Northern Cape. The company noted in a release on Monday that the intersections achieved provide strong geological proof of concept for Orion’s expectation that the Jacomynspan group of intrusions has good potential to host high-grade massive sulphide mineralisation similar to the Nova-Bollinger deposit, in the Fraser Range, in Western Australia.

Kibo to raise £500 000 for Botswana, Mozambique projects; shareholders approve name change

Aim-listed Kibo Mining has received commitments from an Ireland-based Investment Fund to raise £500 000 through a placing of just over 9.5-million ordinary shares in Kibo of par value at €0.015 at a placing price of 5.25p a share. The funds from the placing will go towards general working capital, but will also expedite ongoing advanced feasibility studies at the Mabesekwa Independent Coal to Power Project (MCIPP), in Botswana, and at the Benga Independent Power Project (BIPP), in Mozambique, following...
