Completion of Back Forty feasibility study signals significant milestone for Aquila

A feasibility study, compiled by Lycopodium Minerals Canada, has been completed on TSX-listed Aquila Resources’ 100%-owned zinc- and gold-rich Back Forty project, in Michigan, in the US. Citing the completion of the Back Forty project’s feasibility study as a “significant milestone for Aquila”, CEO and president Barry Hildred said this week that the completion set the stage for the next steps to develop the deposit.

Power system recovery to take 30 days, load-shedding risk remains high

State-owned Eskom expects it will take up to 30 days for the power system to recover from the effects of the recent industrial action, which interrupted continuous processes at the power stations. During the 30-day recovery period, the risk of load-shedding remains high, it warned on Friday.

Sumitomo says Ambatovy to miss FY18/19 nickel output target

Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corp expects that nickel output at its Ambatovy project in Madagascar will likely fall short of its earlier target of 48 000 t in the year to March 2019, its chief financial officer said on Friday. "The Ambatovy has run at about 64% to 65% of full capacity in the April to June quarter and it is running at about 70% now," Sumitomo CFO Koichi Takahata told a news conference, adding that it aims to raise and maintain the rate at 80% as soon as possible.

Battery metals boom boosting services, project potential

There is a boom in the battery metals mining space, owing to a global focus on environment-friendly power initiatives, or ‘green’ energy, says mining industry specialist consultants The MSA Group. S African company supplies four hoppers to Kenyan port

South Africa-based equipment supplier BLTWORLD has assisted in supplying four materials handling specialist SAMSON Eco-Hoppers to the Kenyan Port of Mombasa, in June this year. Acquiring the hoppers is part of the Mombasa Resilient Infrastructure Programme (MRIP) initiative by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), in conjunction with international trade and development organisation TradeMark East Africa, to create a modern regional hub to support growing trade in the area while protecting important natural resources.
