Strong vanadium prices boost Bushveld’s H1 Ebitda; production guidance lowered

Aim-listed Bushveld Minerals’ earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) for the six months to June 30 increased by 439% year-on-year to R521-million. Sales revenue increased by 139% to R1-billion, compared with R439-million in the first half of 2017, primarily owing to higher vanadium prices.

Vast concludes JV to access diamond fields in Zimbabwe

Aim-listed Vast Resources has concluded an agreement with Red Mercury for exclusive access to a diamond concession area in what has become known as the Marange diamond fields in the Chiadzwa region of Zimbabwe.  Under the terms of the agreement, Vast will have the right to carry out initial due diligence on the area with a view to concluding a joint venture agreement, the principal terms of which have been agreed, for exploration, mining and marketing of any diamonds recovered.

DoL welcomes high turnout by former mineworkers seeking unclaimed benefits in Northern Cape

The Department of Labour (DoL) on Wednesday expressed its appreciation for the overwhelming turnout of former mineworkers in the John Taolo Gaetswewe (JTG) district, in the Northern Cape, who heeded the call to make applications for unclaimed benefits. The campaign has witnessed a turnout of 3 279 potential applications since its launch on May 30.

Two new nonexecs join AngloGold board

Alan Ferguson and Jochen Tilk have been appointed independent nonexecutive directors at Anglogold Ashanti, effective October 1 and January 1, 2019, respectively. Ferguson is a chartered accounted and a former CFO of a number of FTSE-listed entities, including Lonmin. Since 2011, he has also served as nonexecutive director at several companies, including Johnson Matthey, Croda International and Marshall Motors.

Danakali ticks another milestone in Eritrea

Potash developer Danakali has reached another milestone at its Colluli project, in Eritrea, with the Eritrean Ministry of Land, Water & Environment accepting the finalised social and environmental management plans for the project. Danakali said on Wednesday that the acceptance followed extensive reviews of the management plans in the context of the previously approved social and environmental impact assessment, numerous meetings, and extensive comments provided to and actioned by the Colluli Mining Share Company.
