Petr Mrazek signs two-year contract extension with Blackhawks: ‘I love it here’

SEATTLE — January has been a month of two-year extensions for the Blackhawks.

Hawks goalie Petr Mrazek signed his own new two-year contract this week — with a salary-cap hit of $4.25 million per year — that will keep him in Chicago through 2026.

Prosecutors drop charges against 2 Chicago police officers accused of beating teen

Charges were dropped Wednesday against two Chicago police officers accused of beating a teenager just as their trial was about to begin.

Officers Jeffery Shafer and Victor Guebara were set to appear before Judge Angela Petrone for a bench trial, but prosecutors instead announced they were dismissing all charges because the alleged victim, now in his 20s, was no longer cooperating.

A Lemont businessman caught up in the feds’ sprawling public corruption investigations pleaded guilty Wednesday to a conspiracy involving the exchange of home improvement work and sports tickets for reduced Cook County property assessments.
