White Sox trade OF Robbie Grossman to Rangers for Double-A pitcher

The White Sox traded Robbie Grossman to the Rangers on Wednesday.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The White Sox acquired minor-league right-hander Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa from the Texas Rangers in exchange for outfielder Robbie Grossman Wednesday.

To fill Grossman's spot on the roster, the Sox selected the contract of infielder Zach Remillard from Triple-A Charlotte.

Hoopii-Tuionetoa, 23, is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 12 1/3 innings with Double-A Frisco this season. Читать дальше...

Cook County Judge Charles Beach has presided over hundreds of pretrial hearings since Illinois became the first state in the nation to eliminate cash bail last fall.

Extra-alarm blaze injures man and destroys nearly 150-year-old Auburn Gresham building

A nearly 150-year-old building collapsed during an extra-alarm fire that spread to an apartment building, leaving one man injured Wednesday morning in Auburn Gresham.

At about 9 a.m. the blaze started at a 2-1/2 story vacany building at 7706 S. Peoria St. that was "totally involved" in flames when crews got there, according to the fire department.

Armed robbers hit 3 businesses in 30 minutes overnight: police

Three businesses were held up by armed robbers in a half-hour time span Tuesday night in Bucktown, Back of the Yards and Pilsen, police said.

The robberies followed a similar pattern: Three men entered the businesses with handguns and demanded property from employees or customers inside, according to Chicago police.
